How They Work
Traditional Air Conditioners have components both inside and outside of the house—that’s why it’s called a ‘split’. The outside unit contains the compressor and condenser, while the inside unit contains a fan and evaporator coil. Warm air is pulled in through your return air ducts, passes through a filter where dirt and debris are removed, and then travels to the evaporator coil. As it passes over top of the coil, the air is cooled. It then gets redistributed through your home via your ducts. When it’s set up properly, this results in a stable temperature across your whole home.
You have direct control over the temperature in your home via a thermostat, which will activate and start the cooling process once temperatures rise above a point you specify.
